Easily my favorite site on the internet. Go there. Read. Laugh.
Essential Programs:
Firefox is a free and fast browser based off of the Mozilla Browser. It blocks pop-ups, does tabbed browsing, themes, and an assortment of awesome plug-ins. I've finally stopped using Internet Explorer for this browser.
- Email Notification software. It sits in your system tray and notifies you if you have mail in multiple accounts. It also lets you read and send email from there too. It supports Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo, and any POP3 based email.
- An IM client that lets you be on MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, and IRC all at once in one program.
- A free MP3/OGG/WMA/etc music ripper and converter.
- This program will rip an exact copy of your CDs to an image file on your computer. Great for backing up your expensive games and also great because of the program below.
- Tired of having to fish around for your game CD's every time you want to play them? Daemon tools lets you mount your ripped images of your CDs in just a few clicks. No more fishing around for your CDs.
- jEdit is a free text editor with programmers in mind. It is written in Java so it works on both Windows and Linux. It has an amazingly useful set of plugins and features that are indespensible for programmers. It has plugins that do FTP/SFTP, Tabs, HTMLTidy, XML Validation & Transformation (XSLT), Regular Expressions, Macros, Text Folds, etc. You have to check it out. My only complaint is its slow loading time.
